Faria Wins Scratch Main Event; Oxley Second

COSTA MESA — Mike Faria of Colton won the four-lap scratch main event at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa took the lead out of the gate but Faria passed him in the second turn and led the rest of the way. Brad Oxley of San Juan Capistrano also got around Schwartz to finished second. Schwartz was third and Robert Pfetzing of Orange was fourth.
Jeff Jones of Westlake Village won the eight-lap handicap main event. Faria was second.
