The San Diego Naval Station will celebrate Armed Forces Day today with a free defense show featuring rescue drills, aircraft flyovers and variety shows, Navy officials said.
Fifty-five units of the Armed Forces will participate in today’s event, which will showcase military demonstrations, numerous exhibits and a special performance by the Navy’s precision parachute team, the Leapfrogs, Navy officials said.
The event, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., will allow visitors to board four small boats, view an Army evacuation hospital and see a Marine Corps tank, official said.
The Naval Station, at Harbor Drive and 32nd Street, will open its main gate at 7:30 a.m., officials said. Free on-base parking and shuttle transportation are available.
