Schoolchildren on the Rioting
My students wanted to share this with someone who might care.
“We are 4th graders at Colmar Elementary School in Bell Gardens. We are terrified of all the fighting and the fires. We feel terrible about what happened to Rodney King. We want friendship between blacks and whites and all races. We want the looting and killing to stop. We want President Bush, Gov. Wilson and all elected officials to help the people of Los Angeles and other damaged places. The people who live there need jobs, homes and food and the children need lots of love. We think the police and firemen are doing a good job.”
