NEW YORK — Ivan Boesky’s wife denies that her husband is seeking $1 million a year from her in alimony as part of a scam to get back illegal earnings.
Seema Boesky also told the ABC News program “20-20” that the admitted inside trader is unemployed and living in California.
Seema Boesky began divorce proceedings against her husband several months ago. He is suing her for $1 million in alimony, claiming that he has virtually no money to live on.
Boesky spent $100 million on a civil settlement of federal insider-trading charges and $45 million to resolve investor lawsuits. He finished a 22-month prison term in 1990.
Seema Boesky denied that Boesky gave her criminally earned money before he settled the government’s charges and wants to get it back via alimony. “There is no basis in fact whatsoever to that statement,” she said. “We didn’t commingle our money. My money is clearly my money.” Seema Boesky inherited millions from her father, who owned the Beverly Hills Hotel.
