SATURDAY LETTERS / TV RIOT COVERAGE : Sensational TV Gets Blame for Violence
- Share via
Watching the recent coverage of the L.A. riots only served to reinforce my belief of the lack of depth in coverage by our local newscasts. Flitting from picture to picture of rioting, looting and burning was spectacular, but rarely did we see anyone giving any perspective on the situation.
If you want in-depth coverage and analysis, turn on “The MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHour” on PBS. Otherwise, all you’re going to get is a glorified coffee-table book full of pictures and very little text.
