Radio Opera’s Carl Princi

Re “Carl Princi, 71; Voice of Opera on L.A. Radio” (Section A, May 5): I first met the late Carl Princi when I was about 10 years old. A new program was in the works at KFAC titled “Interlude in Stereo,” and my father, a friend of Princi and a representative of the show-to-be’s sponsors, persuaded the gracious Princi to allow me to take part in the theme-music selection process. I made a tape of 10 recommendations and sent them with Dad to the KFAC offices.
I was thrilled when one of my choices was optioned unanimously by the selection committee, and even more thrilled by the letter I received from Princi.
Thanks for the timely boost, Mr. Princi. Your care and professionalism made a big difference to me and to thousands of listeners, and we will all miss you.
