PREP NOTES : Wielandt to Play Softball at Iowa

Melissa Wielandt, a two-time All-Century League player from Foothill High School, has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Iowa, the school announced Thursday.
Wielandt is hitting .391 for the Knights and excels as a defensive player.
Diane Pohl, from Cypress High, also plays for Iowa and was named to the All-Big Ten team Wednesday.
Joe McCarthy of Edison High, an All-Sunset League volleyball player the past two years, has orally committed to Princeton.
McCarthy, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, chose Princeton over Stanford and UC San Diego. He has a 4.24 grade-point average.
