A hostage situation in Oceanside ended peacefully Thursday morning despite more than a dozen shots being fired at police officers, an Oceanside police spokeswoman said.
Daniel Ybarra, 38, began shooting at officers when they arrived but was persuaded to surrender around 6 a.m., four hours after the ordeal began, according to police. He walked out of the home and was immediately followed by his hostage, 23-year-old girlfriend Bianca Perez.
There were no injuries, and Ybarra was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon against police officers, authorities said.
