Sony Promotes Andrew Kaplan to Oversee Its Television Units

* Andrew J. Kaplan has been promoted to executive vice president of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s television group. Kaplan, 31, had been senior vice president of Sony’s Columbia Pictures Television unit.
In his new position, Kaplan will oversee the production, finance, program research, music and publicity operations of Sony’s TV units, which include Columbia Pictures Television and Tristar Television. He will also work on Sony’s planned 1993 launch of a new TV game show cable channel.
