PREP BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Hernandez’s Three-Hitter Paces Century Upset

Jose Hernandez pitched a three-hitter, striking out five and walking two, as Century upset Trabuco Hills, 6-0, in a Pacific Coast League baseball game Wednesday at Trabuco Hills.
Tommy Reimers had a two-run single to highlight a four-run seventh for Century (7-14, 5-9 in league). Trabuco Hills (14-9, 11-3) is ranked ninth in Orange County.
In another Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Hills 3, Laguna Beach 2--Brett Nista walked to force in the winning run for Laguna Hills (16-8, 10-3) in the seventh inning.
In the Academy League:
Liberty Christian 17, St. Michael’s 6 (5, mercy rule)--Jeremy Anderson had a grand slam in the third inning for visiting Liberty Christian (15-2, 6-1) at Jeronimo Park in El Toro.
In the Century League:
Villa Park 3, Santa Ana Valley 2--Jason Johnson pitched the final inning for his sixth save for visiting Villa Park (10-12-2, 7-7). Scott Henderson (4-4) allowed two hits over six innings for the victory. He had five strikeouts and has 100 this season.
Canyon 4, El Modena 3--Gunnar Strunz had a two-run double in Canyon’s four-run fourth inning and Matt Wood struck out seven for the Comanches (16-7-1, 10-3-1).
Foothill 15, Orange 3--Mike Urbanski went four for five with three doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored for Foothill (16-8, 10-4).
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 15, Cypress 0--Shawn Holcomb had four hits, including two doubles, and six RBIs for visiting El Dorado (19-5, 12-2). Cypress is 13-11-1, 7-7.
Los Alamitos 2, Loara 1--Matt Jezner and Caleb Kemp had RBI doubles for host Los Alamitos (10-15, 4-10) in the second inning. Loara is 7-17, 2-12.
Katella 4, Esperanza 3 (11)--John Holcomb had a double to drive in Eric Gardiner with the winning run for host Katella (16-8, 11-3).
In the Garden Grove League:
Pacifica 2, Garden Grove 0--Dave Anderson had a double to drive in Mike Greenberg with the first run for Pacifica (14-11, 7-6) in the sixth inning.
La Quinta 14, Bolsa Grande 5--Chad Leckie had a two-run home run in the second inning for La Quinta (15-8-1, 8-5). Teammate Jim Livernois had four hits and three RBIs.
Los Amigos 3, Rancho Alamitos 1--Joe Portillo had a home run in the fourth inning for host Los Amigos (5-14, 5-8).
In the Olympic League:
Orange Lutheran 4, Valley Christian 0--Matt Hendren pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight for Orange Lutheran (18-4, 10-2). It was the first league loss for Valley Christian (15-4-1, 10-1).
In the Sea View League:
Newport Harbor 3, Tustin 0--Newport Harbor (10-12-1, 4-9-1) upset league-leading Tustin (12-2 in league) behind a combined shutout from Ted Stelle, Mike Buist and Matt Palaferri.
In the Sunset League:
Edison 3, Fountain Valley 2--Freshman Greg Hanoian hit a two-run homer in the first and pitcher Shawn Allbee allowed two first-inning runs, then shut out the Barons over the final six innings while striking out 12 and and walking one for host Edison (11-12, 6-5).
Marina 4, Westminster 2--Nick St. George allowed two first-inning runs then shut out Westminster (12-14, 5-7) over the final six innings to earn his fifth victory for host Marina (10-14, 5-6).
Santa Ana 6, Ocean View 5--Joe Mata hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning to give Santa Ana a 6-3 lead, and the Saints (4-19, 2-9) held on.
In the South Coast League:
Capistrano Valley 3, Irvine 2--Ethan Wyckoff (6-2) pitched a four-hitter, allowing two runs--one earned--for host Capistrano Valley (20-4, 12-2). Brian Benner had a two-run single in the fifth with two outs to give Capistrano Valley a 3-2 lead.
Mission Viejo 5, El Toro 4--Russ Flory drove in Scott Neuhausen with the winning run for host Mission Viejo (13-10, 6-8), which rallied for two runs in the seventh. Chris Wiggins was two for three with four RBIs for El Toro (11-11, 8-6).
San Clemente 11, Dana Hills 0--Jason Whitworth and Justin Greco each had a double and three RBIs for San Clemente (8-16, 3-11).
