PRESIDENTIAL SALUTE: A reception and ceremony will be held Tuesday at Cal State Northridge to honor President James W. Cleary, who is retiring after 23 years as head of the university.
COMMUTER RAIL: Transportation officials will hold an open house Thursday to explain and answer questions about Metrolink, a new commuter rail system linking Santa Clarita and downtown Los Angeles. It will begin operation in October. The public forum will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. at Germain Street Elementary School, 20730 Germain St., Chatsworth.
