Update: The Rodney G. King Beating Trial
A look at key developments on Friday. The jurors sent one message to the judge requesting that they be read 120 pages of testimony from two nurses who testified about King’s injuries. That testimony included a statement allegedly made by Officer Laurence M. Powell that the police “hit a few home runs†using their batons on King.
The jurors sent a second message asking about one of the legal instructions read to them by Judge Stanley M. Weisberg.
Defense attorneys and prosecutors met with the judge to discuss the messages, but could not reach a consensus on how to proceed. The judge ordered the lawyers back to the courtroom at 9 a.m. this morning for further discussion.
