Cypress 2, Rancho Santiago 1 (10 innings)--David Newhan’s sacrifice fly to left drove in Abijah Alastra with the winning run for Cypress (22-17, 8-12). In the seventh inning, Alastra’s double scored Ryan Hamilton with the tying run. Aaron Butler’s single drove in David Gonzales for Rancho Santiago (23-11, 14-6).
Orange Coast 10, Riverside 9--Daniel Hernandez’s two-run single capped a six-run sixth inning for the host Pirates (19-12, 10-9).
In Orange Empire Conference softball:
Cypress 2, Riverside 0--Jennifer Johnson’s seventh-inning RBI single broke a scoreless tie, and she later scored on second baseman Glae Copeland’s error for the visiting Chargers (32-14, 13-4). Riverside (18-14, 11-6) had the tying run on second with no outs in the seventh but failed to score.
