HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Other City Eastern League games:
Serra 10, Morse 9--Sophomore Manny Acevedo’s pinch-hit grand slam to left in the bottom of the seventh won it for Serra (5-7, 1-0), which trailed 6-1 in the fifth inning. Milo Rodriguez went three for three with two RBIs for Serra.
City Western League
USDHS 12, Kearny 3--Aaron Blair had a single, a triple, two RBIs and scored two runs to lead fourth-ranked USDHS (8-2, 1-0), which was helped by eight Kearny errors. Kearny fell to 4-7-1, 0-1.
University City 5, Mission Bay 2--Pitcher Jay Parmenter (3-3) pitched a three-hitter and Todd Clark was four for four as University City (4-5, 1-0) opened league play with a victory. Manny Castillo (1-2) took the loss for the Buccaneers, who fell to 5-4, 0-1.
City Central League
Lincoln 3, Hoover 0--Tobias Price tossed a one-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts for Lincoln. The only Hoover hit was single to right by Urai Umana. Jim Morgan allowed only two hits with seven strikeouts for Hoover (1-8, 0-1).
Madison 3, San Diego 2--Brad Tade’s sacrifice fly scored pinch-runner Rich Watson with the winning run. Jesus Martinez (4-1) pitched for Madison (8-3, 1-0).
Metro Conference
Mar Vista 3, Chula Vista 1--Shaun Simmons went two for three with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for 10th-ranked Mar Vista (8-3-1, 2-1). Bobby Rector (5-0) scattered three hits and struck four in 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win.
Montgomery 3, Southwest 0--Sophomore Steve Quinteros (2-0) struck out six and limited Southwest to two hits in a complete-game shutout. Jose Lorenzana homered as the Aztecs (10-0, 3-0) scored all three runs in the first inning.
