Selected to the all-tournament team were Michigan’s Chris Webber and Jalen Rose, and Duke’s Christian Laettner, Grant Hill and Bobby Hurley. Hurley, voted the outstanding player, had seven assists, extending his NCAA tournament record to 129 assists in 17 games.

Duke is the sixth school to repeat as NCAA champion. Oklahoma A&M; did it in 1945-46, Kentucky in 1948-49, San Francisco in 1955-56, Cincinnati in 1961-62 and UCLA in 1964-65 and from 1967-73. Only UCLA has won more than two in a row.
