Biopool Reports Loss of $202,000 in 4th Quarter

Biopool International Inc., a Ventura company that makes blood diagnostic test kits, reported a fourth-quarter loss of $202,000, while sales for the quarter jumped 28% to $762,000. A year earlier, Biopool lost $287,000 on sales of $594,000.
The company said the fourth-quarter loss included a $160,000 write-down on patent costs and underutilized equipment.
In the year that ended Dec. 31, Biopool lost $351,000, in contrast with a loss of $650,000 for 1990. Revenue rose 14% to $2.66 million from $2.34 million.
