Movin’ on Up: The TV networks, which have experienced viewer erosion in recent seasons because of cable television, videocassettes and other programming alternatives, got some good news Monday. Ratings and audience shares for the first quarter of this year are up, compared to a year ago, on ABC, CBS and NBC. The rating for all network programming, including special events such as the Olympics, was up 3%, with the audience share up 2%. Regular programming alone gained 1%. For the season to date, this year’s ratings for all programming (including specials) increased by 2%, while regular programming was up by 1%. Peter Chrisanthopoulos, president and chief executive officer of the Network Television Assn., called the gains “significant.â€
