Verdict Questioned in Florida Rape Trial
I am furious that Mark Urbanski has no remorse for his actions, and takes solace in the fact that he stopped the “fun†before a statue of Jesus could be used to assault a woman. I have nothing but contempt for his father, the civic leader and good Catholic, for whom the worst part of this whole vile affair is that his son was charged with a sex crime. He is relieved that his son was acquitted. Did he listen to what his son readily admits to doing?
I am even mad that the prosecuting attorney chose to couch his cases in terms of a class issue. This is not a case about whether these young men are privileged or whether her clothes meet their preppie dress code standard. Sexual abuse of women and date rape know no economic boundaries.
I am outraged, I am angry, I am contemptuous. But, mostly, I am afraid.
