Head of Denver’s RTC Office Leaving: Regional Vice President Sherwin Koopmans is leaving his Denver post because the Resolution Trust Corp. is replacing the seven-state western regional office with a five-state field office, said spokesman Kevin Shields. He said it was part of a national reorganization. The Denver office is the target of an inspector general’s report and of criticism by some U.S. senators. However, the Rocky Mountain News quoted “high-level executives” as saying that Koopmans was losing his post because of a $25-million accounting project in the regional office that allegedly went astray. Known as Operation Western Storm, the project was to track down $7 billion in assets that were unaccounted for.
