VALLEY SPORTS ROUNDUP : Garza No-Hitter Paces Knights
Chris Garza threw a no-hitter Monday to lead host Notre Dame High past Chaminade, 9-0, in a Mission League game.
Garza, a junior who improved to 5-0, struck out 13 and walked three. He did not allow a runner past second base and lowered his earned-run average to 0.75.
Cesar Martinez and Ryan Stromsborg each had two hits for Notre Dame (6-1-1, 3-0 in league play).

Chatsworth 4, Granada Hills 1--Jesse Yeomans limited Granada Hills (7-1, 2-1) to four hits in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Taft 4, San Fernando 2--Justin Siegel allowed nine hits, struck out nine and walked four for host Taft (5-2-1, 3-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Cleveland 5, Reseda 3--Dave Cipolla’s run-scoring double broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning of a Northwest Valley Conference game.
Sylmar 3, Canoga Park 0--John Bohman threw a three-hitter, struck out six and walked none to lead Sylmar (4-5, 2-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at home.
Channel Islands 17, Agoura 3--Sam Monroy had two hits and four RBIs and Jose Gastelum drove in three runs for visiting Channel Islands (8-0, 2-0) in a Marmonte League game.
Royal 14, Westlake 2--Shane Slayton’s grand slam concluded an 11-run fifth inning for host Royal (4-3, 1-1) that included five Westlake errors in a Marmonte League game.
Newbury Park 7, Thousand Oaks 1--Jeff Hook was three for four with three RBIs and Bryant Fick limited host Thousand Oaks (0-8, 0-2) to two hits through five innings for Newbury Park (5-3, 2-0) in a Marmonte League game.
Muir 5, Crescenta Valley 2--Aaron Schaefer and Andy Settle each drove in a run for visiting Crescenta Valley (4-4-1, 1-2-1) in a Pacific League game.
Pasadena 7, Glendale 4--Glendale (3-3, 1-3) surrendered a three-run homer in the eighth in a Pacific League loss at home.
