SAN DIEGO : Local Schools Go to Science Meet Finals
The Science Olympiad teams from La Jolla High School and Bell Junior High School won top awards last week in statewide competition, both for the second year in a row.
The two teams will compete for national honors in mid-May in Auburn, Alabama. La Jolla won the national title last year. The Olympiad involves competition on science projects and problems presented to the teams.
The schools need to raise $15,000 each to send the 16-member teams to Alabama. Last year, the Bell team was barely able to meet the travel requirement, and the schools are hoping for corporate sponsorships this year.
