In Empire League baseball:
Esperanza 3, Los Alamitos 0--Jeff Quinn pitched a two-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks for host Esperanza. Quinn’s complete-game victory was the first for Esperanza since 1987.
Scott MacBeth’s two-run single highlighted a three-run second inning for the Aztecs (4-3, 1-0 in league). Jason Murrietta also had an RBI single for Esperanza (4-3, 1-0).
In Orange League baseball:
Valencia 15, Magnolia 3--Eric Ensman went three for three with six RBIs and David Morikawa went three for three with three runs scored for visiting Valencia (4-2, 1-0). Mike Lorge pitched a complete game, allowing only one earned run for Valencia. Magnolia is 2-6, 0-1 in league.
In nonconference baseball:
Pacifica 3-5, Orange 1-6--Josh Dean (1-1) pitched a four-hitter and Jeff Depippo had two hits for visiting Pacifica (5-3) in the first game.
In the second game, which went eight innings, Dean Scramus had two hits and pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory for Orange (3-3).
