Claremont : College Athletic Expansion
The City Council on Tuesday tentatively approved a development agreement with Claremont McKenna College to build more athletic facilities in the Arbol Verde neighborhood.
The agreement is a 33-year, three-phase plan that will allow the college to expand the campus into the neighborhood with a new baseball field, parking lot and street, and then to build dormitories on the land currently used for sports.
But Arbol Verde residents complained to the council that they did not have enough time to review the agreement documents and asked council to continue the item.
Council members agreed to meet with residents before the final adoption of the agreement on March 24 to discuss their concerns about the college’s expansion plan.
The council may at that time amend the agreement.
