Senna Injures Leg in a Crash During Qualifying

Ayrton Senna of Brazil, defending Formula One driving champion, suffered a badly bruised left leg when his McLaren spun out of control and slammed into a wall Friday during qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix at Mexico City.
Doctors said X-rays revealed no broken bones.
The rear end of Senna’s car was demolished and McLaren team officials said doctors will decide today if Senna can compete in Sunday’s race, the second of the season.
Nigel Mansell of Britain, in a Williams, had the provisional pole after two qualifying runs, with a fast lap of 129.525 m.p.h.
