Three celebrities will be inducted into the Santa Clarita Valley Walk of Western Stars tonight at an awards ceremony and barbecue.
Jane Russell, Virginia Mayo and Montie Montana are scheduled to accept the tributes in person during the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at California Institute of the Arts, 24700 McBean Parkway.
Russell starred in such movies as “The Outlaw,” while Mayo counts “Colorado Territory” among her many films. Montana is a trick roper who starred in the television show “Weber’s Rodeo Ranch.”
The walk, which is near William S. Hart Park in Newhall, was begun in 1981 by the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Newhall Merchants Assn. to recognize the area’s contributions to the Western genre.
