OCEANSIDE : ‘Yoko Ono’ Bank Bandit Pleads Guilty
- Share via
An Oceanside woman dubbed the “Yoko Ono” bandit after robbing banks in Vista and Oceanside pleaded guilty Friday in federal court to two bank heists.
Gloria Maria de Vito, 40, admitted the Nov. 20 holdup of a Security Pacific Bank in Vista and the Dec. 5 robbery of a Security Pacific Bank in Oceanside.
De Vito was given her unusual moniker after one witness to a robbery described the bandit to the FBI as looking like Yoko Ono, the widow of ex-Beatle John Lennon.
De Vito faces a maximum sentence of 20 years on each count and a fine of $250,000 for each of the two robberies. U.S. District Judge Marilyn Huff set sentencing for June 8.
