FULLERTON — Memorial services for Cal State Fullerton Police Chief Daniel Byrnes will be held Friday at the campus, university officials announced.
Byrnes, who had been police chief since 1988, died Tuesday night after suffering a brain hemorrhage three weeks earlier.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. at the Fullerton Arboretum, at the northeast end of the campus, near Yorba Linda Boulevard and the Orange Freeway, said Sal D. Rinella, the university’s vice president for administration.
Byrnes’ widow and his three sons from a previous marriage have asked that instead of flowers, donations be made to establish a student scholarship fund in his honor, Rinella said. Donations should be made payable to the Dan Byrnes Scholarship Fund and sent to the Cal State Fullerton Foundation.
