VAN NUYS : LAPD Gets Airplane Seized in Drug Bust

The Los Angeles Police Department has received a twin-engine airplane that was seized in 1987 during a drug bust in which officers also confiscated a large amount of marijuana.
The Police Department will use the seven-seat Piper Navajo to transport investigators, witnesses and prisoners. LAPD detectives and U.S. Customs agents seized the plane after a yearlong investigation. The plane was held by Customs officials during 3 1/2 years of legal action.
