No Slowdown: The county’s home-building business may not be in robust health quite yet, but it’s still pretty prolific.
There are at least 63 home-building companies headquartered in Orange County these days.
They range from William Lyon Co., the Southland’s largest with 1,968 homes and 1,770 apartments built in 1991--which generated $688.2 million in sales--to a handful of small merchant builders such as Dahl Co. on Balboa Island, which built eight $1-million custom homes in 1991.
