COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titan Wrestler Wins Twice in NCAA Meet

Lyndon Campbell of Cal State Fullerton won two matches Thursday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 134-pound division of the NCAA Division I wrestling championships at Oklahoma City.
Campbell beat Ray Serbick of Eastern Illinois, 7-5, in Round 1 and Eric Kimble of Ohio, 3-1, in Round 2. Campbell, 26-6 and seeded eighth, will face NCAA champion Tom Brands of Iowa today.
The Titans’ Dwayne Buth lost to top-seeded Rich Powers of Northern Iowa, 18-2, in a first-round match at 177 pounds. Buth defeated Rick Evans of Brigham Young in a consolation-bracket match.
Laszlo Molnar of Fullerton lost to Solomon Fleckman of Lehigh, 4-2, at 167. When Fleckman lost in the second round, Molnar was eliminated.
In nonconference men’s gymnastics:
Army 260.60, Cal State Fullerton 184.25--In their final home meet at Titan Gym, the Titans (2-25) didn’t have a winner in any of the six individual events. Fullerton’s Karl Nove finished second to John Miller in the all-around.
Cal State Fullerton is dropping the program because of financial reasons. The finale drew 190 spectators.
In nonconference baseball:
Southern California College 6, Metro State 1--Greg Ertell drove in three runs with a third-inning homer as the host Vanguards improved to 9-10-1.
In nonconference softball:
Cal State Dominguez Hills 3-4, Southern California College 0-0--Anne Ibarra pitched a four-hitter in the opener and Julie Borquez a three-hitter in the second game at Dominguez Hills.
