Azerbaijan rejected the idea of U.N. peacekeeping troops in the embattled region of Nagorno-Karabakh, hours before U.N. envoy Cyrus R. Vance was to arrive for a mediation mission. “We do not favor the dispatch of a U.N. force. Nagorno-Karabakh is our own problem, and we want to decide its fate ourselves,” Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker and acting President Yagub Mamedov said. Vance is to visit Armenia as well.
