ANAHEIM — A mother and her 6-month-old daughter were hospitalized for smoke inhalation Thursday after a fire broke out in their apartment, fire officials said.
The apartment fire at 2245 W. Vancouver Drive began about 5:30 p.m. and caused an estimated $85,000 in damage, Battalion Chief Benny Ramirez said.
During the fire, a passerby, Roger Miszczak, ran into the apartment and grabbed the 6-month-old girl, fire officials said.
The 16-year-old mother and her daughter, whose names were not released, were treated at Martin Luther Hospital in Anaheim.
Their condition was not available Thursday night.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Ramirez said.
