An 8-year-old Saugus girl died Thursday in Santa Clarita after the car in which she was riding was struck broadside by a pickup truck, authorities said.
Sheran Robinson was critically injured in the 3:50 p.m. crash and later died in Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Robert Norlemann said.
Sheran, her younger sister and their mother, Peya Robinson, were heading north on Bouquet Canyon Road and preparing to turn west onto Urbandale Avenue, Norlemann said. As the car made the turn, an oncoming pickup driven by a 16-year-old girl from Santa Clarita sped through the intersection and struck the Robinson car on the passenger side, he said.
Peya Robinson and her 5-year-old daughter received minor injuries and were treated at Henry Mayo, Norlemann said. The other driver, along with a 16-year-old passenger, were also treated for minor injuries.
Norlemann said the teen-age driver may have run a red light at the intersection, but no arrests or citations were issued pending an investigation.
