LAKE CASITAS : New State-Funded Pier Is Completed

Fishermen can cast their lines off a new pier that was completed Thursday at the Lake Casitas Recreation Area, thanks to a $218,000 state grant.
The new 80-foot-long floating dock replaces the structure that will be moved to the Wadliegh Arm, a finger on the north side of the lake, park Ranger Brent Doan said.
Tens of thousands of fishermen use the lake each year, said Richard H. Hajas, assistant general manager of Casitas Municipal Water District, which manages the park.
In addition, the state Department of Parks and Recreation grant also is funding the installation of water and electrical hookups in 50 recreational vehicle campsites.
Work on the campsites is to be finished by Memorial Day, Hajas said.
