Richie Phillips, the Philadelphia attorney who also heads the major league baseball umpires organization, said golf officials were angry over the tour’s counteroffer to union demands for an increased economic package.
Among the options available to the union, Phillips said, was “a work stoppage” as early as this weekend, “putting up pickets” and “closing the tour.”
