Emilia Sherman Maurer, a dancer and choreographer who put the Rockettes through their paces for 40 years. Friends said her age was not reported at her “explicit instructions.” Miss Sherman was captain of the Rockettes when they moved to New York’s Rockefeller Center in 1932 for the opening of Radio City Music Hall. In addition to serving as a dancer in the chorus line, she drilled the other dancers and choreographed their routines. She was associate director of the troupe under Rockettes founder Russell E. Markert and became director in 1971. She retired in 1973. On Feb. 28 of unreported causes in New York City.
