COMMUNITY COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Golden West Scores Twice in Ninth to Beat Riverside
Marty Osborne’s double drove in the winning run in the ninth inning and Golden West defeated Riverside, 6-5, in an Orange Empire Conference baseball game Thursday at Golden West.
John Arnold, who scored on Osborne’s double, had tied the score with an RBI single.
Riverside’s Bobby Jones hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning to give the Tigers a 5-4 lead.
Garrett DeGiorgio drove in two runs with a double in a four-run second inning for Golden West (8-5-1, 3-2 in conference).
In other Orange Empire Conference games:
Rancho Santiago 11, Orange Coast 1--The Dons (10-5, 3-1) combined two hits and three Pirate errors for five runs in the second inning and David Goldstein retired the final 17 batters he faced at Orange Coast.
Fullerton 7, Cypress 4--Aaron Charlton pitched an eight-hitter with five strikeouts for visiting Fullerton (9-7-1, 2-3). Ramon Apodaca had a two-run single in the seventh to give Fullerton a 3-2 lead. Fullerton added three runs in the eighth and one in the ninth. Andy Gonzales had three hits and drove in a run for Cypress (10-9, 0-6).
