2 Men, Juvenile Are Arrested in Drug Seizure
Ventura County sheriff’s narcotics officers, assisted by the FBI, seized 28 pounds of marijuana and arrested two men and a juvenile in south Oxnard on Thursday after negotiating to buy the illicit drug, authorities said.
The arrest occurred at 5:20 p.m. in the 6000 block of Arcturus Avenue, where undercover officers had agreed to meet to purchase 28 pounds of marijuana from Rigoberto Elenes Higuera, 27, of Oxnard, Sheriff’s Sgt. Arnie Aviles said.
Also arrested were Cesar Rocha Gastelo, 27, of North Hollywood and a 15-year-old boy whose hometown was not available, Aviles said.
Higuera initially tried to escape by backing his car away from the officers, but crashed into a parked sheriff’s vehicle, Aviles said. Gastelo, in a separate car, rolled it into another sheriff’s vehicle and caused minor damage, Aviles said.
The three suspects then attempted to flee on foot but were caught after a short chase, the investigator said.
Officers later searched Higuera’s residence and found another pound of marijuana, Aviles said.
