The Issue Is Murder
The question in the Francisca Sanchez Jimenez case is not whether she took a human life; she did. The question is: Is she any more sane or insane than the woman who kills her unborn by abortion? Under our present law we may murder the unborn child, but may not murder the newborn. Both are in stages of development, both are equally human.
Ms. Jimenez threw her newborn child in the toilet. Isn’t that what mothers do when they voluntarily abort? It seems the only difference is they use physicians as their accomplices.
Ms. Jimenez, and the mother who voluntarily aborts, commit murder--neither is insane. A law that differentiates is the true insanity.
Invading the darkness of the womb to take the life of a child is no less heinous than drowning a child in a toilet; both are the victims of murder. The least, or most, Ms. Jimenez should receive is equal treatment for the same act.
