OUTLOOK
The Sea Kings return seven starters from last season’s team that tied Saddleback for second. But the missing ingredient could be Brady Lamar, the team’s most valuable player who is now playing for Orange Coast College. Lamar was a clutch performer who batted nearly .600 the second half of the league season. “We just need to find a guy to take charge and lead the way offensively,†Magers said. Among the candidates are DeCinces, son of former major leaguer Doug, and Kehrli, a hard-hitting outfielder who will attend Louisville on a football scholarship. “When (Kehrli) has balance and his mechanics are sound, he hits the ball harder than any high school player I’ve seen,†Magers said. Magers expects the pitching staff to be strong--MacMillan, Chelius and Ramsay did the bulk of the pitching last season and probably will again this year.
