GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : In another Division I quarterfinal

Rancho Bernardo 48, Orange Glen 46--Carol Pajarillo sank a 15-foot baseline jumper with one second left to give Rancho Bernardo the victory. Robin Blalock had missed jumper with five seconds left, but Amy Franzen saved the rebound to Pajarillo who then hit the shot. Orange Glen’s Carol Clinger tied it at 46 with a three-point play off a rebound with 32 seconds left. Orange Glen, which trailed the entire way, stayed in the game by outrebounding Rancho Bernardo, 42-28.

Blalock led Rancho Bernardo (23-3) with 15 points, Jessica Porter and Amy Franzen added 10 apiece and Pajarillo finished with six. The Broncos play the winner of tonight’s Southwest-Mt. Carmel game in the semifinals Wednesday. Amber Cravey led Orange Glen with 14 points and Missy Smith had 10.

Division II

Carlsbad 65, Monte Vista 28--Vanessa Nygaard led top-seeded Carlsbad with 21 points and Holly Gerdes had 16 points. The Lancers will play the El Cajon-Mission Bay winner Wednesday in the semifinals.

Point Loma 42, Kearny 34--Second-seeded Point Loma survived Kearny’s full-court press, getting 12 points from Sara Baczynski, 11 from Tinyetta Hunter and 10 from Lisa Griego.

Baczynski added 15 rebounds, Hunter 10, Griego nine and Sharinda Hunter seven as the second-seeded Pointers (23-3) pulled down 46 total rebounds. Sisters Melissa Krause and Shelli Krause scored 13 and eight, respectively, for Kearny (20-7).

Division V

Bishop’s 60, Francis Parker 40--Kari Deleeuw (14 points, five steals), Mandy Updegraff (10 points, 13 rebounds, five steals) and Kaylie Orr (9 points, six rebounds and five steals) led Bishop’s (19-5) to an easy quarterfinal victory. Juli Cheskaty led Francis Parker with 16 points.
