Glendora : Grocery to Open by June
Smith’s Foods plans to open a “super-supermarket†in town by June.
Mayor Larry Glenn announced Tuesday that the Utah-based company closed escrow on the property near the southwest corner of Grand and Alosta avenues and has repaid the city the debt it took over in buying the land from Colley Ford.
Planning Director Stan Wong added that the market chain has submitted preliminary plans for an 87,000-square-foot market with an additional 18,000 feet of space for satellite stores.
By contrast, he said the local Vons market is about 25,000 square feet.
Wong said the main market will include a dry cleaner, fast-food restaurant, video rental shop, bank, florist, one-hour photo developer and pharmacy.
