Duchesne Scores, Assists North Stars
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Gaetan Duchesne set up Mike Craig’s go-ahead score and added an insurance goal Monday night to help the Minnesota North Stars end a four-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.
Craig scored with 44 seconds left in the second period, and Duchesne’s goal came early in the final period.
The Devils are 0-2-1 in their last three games after posting six consecutive victories. They remain 10 points behind the front-running New York Rangers in the Patrick Division.
The North Stars moved 10 points ahead of Toronto in the race for the final playoff berth in the Norris Division.
Minnesota took the lead on an unassisted goal by Brian Bellows at 15:54 of the first period. The Devils pulled even late in the second period on a goal by Tom Chorske.
