Golden West Has 11 Players Going to 4-Year Schools

HUNTINGTON BEACH — Eleven members of the Golden West football team have made commitments to four-year colleges, Coach Ray Shackleford announced Tuesday.
Doug Cunningham, a defensive back who missed the final three games because of a knee injury, signed with Oregon State. Cunningham, who played tailback as a freshman, is expected to be a fullback for the Beavers.
Kevin Mullens, a second-team J.C. Grid-Wire selection at defensive back, is going to the University of the Pacific. He had six interceptions and 57 tackles last season. Fellow defensive back Darren Lance is also going to Pacific.
Defensive end Joe Hay, who led Golden West in tackles with 91 and sacks with 7 1/2, and linebacker David McLeod, who was second on the team with 86 tackles, signed with Southern Illinois.
Fullback Larry Brophy and offensive lineman Rabinder Khurana signed with Cal State Fullerton.
Also signing were: offensive lineman Al Graf (Weber State), defensive lineman Matt Hunt (Chico State), tight end Omar Khattab (Humboldt State) and wide receiver David Taylor (Florida A&M;).
