NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Death Sentence in Serial Murder Case
- Share via
Prostitute Aileen Wuornos, saying she was wrongly branded a serial killer, was sentenced to die in the electric chair for one of seven Florida highway slayings. “Law enforcement has labeled me a serial killer purposefully, for books and movies,” Wuornos, 35, told a judge in Deland, Fla. “I’m no serial killer.” Circuit Judge Uriel Blount imposed the death penalty for the murder of Richard Mallory. In a videotape statement Wuornos gave investigators, she admitted killing six other men she said picked her up for sex. No date was set for the execution. The sentence will be appealed.
