SPORTS ON WEEKEND TV : Bulls Return to Play Lakers
With the football season concluding Sunday in Honolulu, pro and college basketball, tennis and golf will take a firm grip on the weekend’s sports programming.
Pro Basketball: The Chicago Bulls will visit the Lakers on Sunday for a nationallytelevised game at 12:30 p.m., the second contest of a doubleheader on NBC (Channels 4, 36 and 39). The first game, between the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors, will begin at 10 a.m.
College Basketball: No. 2 UCLA will try to get back on the winning track after its upset by USC when it plays Louisville at 10:30 a.m. Sunday on Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42. In today’s telecasts involving teams ranked by the Associated Press, No. 1 Duke will play host to Notre Dame (1 p.m., Channels 4, 36 and 39) and No. 6 Connecticut will visit St. John’s (11 a.m. Channels 2 and 8). On Sunday, No. 10 Ohio State will play No. 15 Michigan (10 a.m., Channels 2 and 8) and No. 9 Arizona will meet Oregon State (12:45 p.m., Channels 7, 3, 10 and 42).
Tennis: John McEnroe and Rick Leach of Laguna Beach are paired for the first time in a Davis Cup doubles match against Argentina’s Javier Frana and Christian Miniussi at 1 p.m. today on ESPN. At 1 p.m. Sunday, ESPN will air the Andre Agassi-Martin Jaite match.
Other Sports: The NFL wraps up its season Sunday with its all-star game, the AFC/NFC Pro Bowl, at 5 p.m. on ESPN. Golf’s Pebble Beach National Pro-Am will air at 1 p.m. today, and noon on Sunday on Channels 2 and 8.
