Daniel Has 66 to Tie for Lead
LAKE WORTH, Fla. — Beth Daniel shot a six-under-par 66 Thursday for a share of the first-round lead at the weather-plagued Oldsmobile LPGA Classic.
The women’s first tournament of the year, at Wycliffe Golf & Country Club, was delayed 2 hours 15 minutes because of heavy fog, resulting in an incomplete first round.
Daniel and Swedish rookie Helen Alfredsson, who also shot 66, were two of 90 golfers in the 144-player field to complete their opening round.
Barb Mucha, Liselotte Neumann and Dawn Coe were one stroke back, with five other players tied at 68.
