China continues to sell missile technology to Syria and Pakistan despite statements by Chinese leaders that they are willing to curb missile exports, the New York Times reported in today’s editions.

It quoted senior U.S. Administration officials as saying Beijing has recently delivered to Syria about 30 tons of chemicals needed to make a solid-fuel missile and plans to deliver an additional 60 tons in March or April. China has also delivered to Pakistan guidance units that could be used to control the flight of M-11 ballistic missiles.

China has denied selling missiles or warheads to Syria, Pakistan or any other country in the Middle East or Southwest Asia.

The United States imposed sanctions on the sale of U.S. satellite parts and high-speed computers to China in June, 1991.

President Bush will raise the issue of China’s arms-selling practices when he meets Chinese Premier Li Peng today at the United Nations, the report added.
