SIMI VALLEY : Child Injured in $110,000 House Fire
A fire in a Simi Valley house Thursday injured an 18-month-old boy and caused $110,000 in damage, a fire official said.
Cause of the blaze is still under investigation, but firefighters were told that smoke alarms in the residence did not sound, Ventura County Fire Department spokeswoman Sandi Wells said.
The fire broke out about 1:45 p.m. in the house in the 1900 block of Emory Avenue, Wells said.
Firefighters from the nearby Santa Susana station responded within three minutes and found flames leaping from the roof and the interior burning, Wells said, adding that the fire was contained 20 minutes after units arrived.
Three occupants fled the blaze. The boy was treated for a burned foot at the scene by ambulance attendants, Wells said, adding that the child did not require hospitalization.
Officials did not identify the residents.
