California IN BRIEF : SAN BERNARDINO : Body of Girl Found at Little League Site
The body of a girl was found at a baseball field in San Bernardino, across a freeway from an area authorities combed Tuesday in search of a 9-year-old kidnaped three weeks ago, police said. The body was found across from Little League Western Regional headquarters in the 6700 block of Little League Drive, police said. Investigators emphasized that they had not determined whether the body was that of Sandra Astorga, who has been missing since Jan. 10 when she failed to show up for classes at Roosevelt Elementary School in San Bernardino. The girl lived with her parents about six blocks from the school. The search for the child was resumed Monday after hunters found her backpack and some of her clothing about half a mile off a road south of Devore and west of Interstate 215.
